Daily Link Dump - April 6, 2012

Friday Fun Link: Meet The Skipper.

Some Christians and Jews are apparently upset that there will be some MLB games played today.  I give the Archbishop of Milwaukee props for taking it in stride and making a funny joke about it.

The cops involved in the Danziger Bridge shooting were sentenced to some lengthy prison terms.

Related: Denver police are just about as bad as those in New Orleans.

Jan Brewer vetoes expanding vouchers in Arizona, while the Louisiana Senate approves a bill to create a voucher program in that state

"Congress, whether controlled by Democrats or Republicans, in fact almost never gives serious constitutional consideration to what it does."

Oliver Stone has a really generic-looking crime movie coming out.

36 Obama aides owe over $833,000 in back taxes. A fella could have a nice weekend in Vegas for that kind of money. Meanwhile Barbara Boxer and the Senate wish to turn the entire U.S. into one giant IRS-debtor's prison.

People think I'm some right-wing shill for Big Oil when I tell them this about hybrids: "Gas would have to approach $8 a gallon before many of the cars could be expected to pay off in the six years an average person owns a car." Hey, if it gives you a sense of satisfaction that you're helping the environment or whatever, knock yourself out. But don't come telling me how much money you're saving on gas because that money saved on gas is going to your car payment.

The movie business is a little stronger this year compared to last.

Malcolm McDowell to star in a remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night. The original holds a special place in my heart, so I'll probably hate this beyond the fact it'll most likely be terrible.

There's a new Bush-administration memo circulating that discusses the use of torture. I'd care more if it was shedding light on something we didn't already know or if the current administration hadn't already said there would be no looking back...

And finally, it turns out you can beat City Hall: The waitress who had her money stolen by police gets it all back thanks to the public outcry over her story.
